Marine Survey

Standard boat inspection for Insurance, finance, Pre-Purchase / Pre-Sale, also called C&V (condition and valuation), which provides a detailed report on all systems and hull (except machinery) and values the boat with replacement cost and fair market value

Declarations of Conformity

Boatbuilders importing models to Canada require a Canadian Responsible Officer (CRO) to ensure compliance with Transport Canada (TC) requirements.  SVS can also assist with Capacity Tags and technical file review

Benefiting both vessel owners and marinas, SVS offers two different types of corrosion surveys.
Whether done in consort with a corrosion survey or on its own, SVS can analyze your electrical load, check for faults and key you in to important safety repairs / upgrades required to be in line with code and keep you safe.

SVS is well suited and experienced in 3rd party independent inspections of new builds, ensuring the vessel you purchase is done right the first time, following ISO, NFPA, TC, ABYC standards, as applicable - saving you time and money in the long run.
Transport Canada Compliance Inspections and Declarations of Conformity are required to import your vessel into Canada for sale.  SVS works with boatbuilders looking to sell to an active Canadian market ensuring your vessel and papers are in order.
Whether you are a club, organization, marina, school or operator group, SVS can tailor systems and navigation training to meet your needs within your budget.  With training and standards professionals at SVS, our education department is second to none.

SVS Service Area

There are no travel fees associated with local hire, which falls within a 60km radius of our call-out locations in Eastern Ontario (Prince Edward County, Bath, Collins Bay), which equates to 120km of travel time free to you.  

Outside of this range, we charge $0.95 / km travelled plus time and expenses (tolls, hotels, etc).

Ex: If your boat is 100km away from one of our call-out locations, the first 60km is N/C.  The final 40km requires a round trip travel of 80km (at 0.95 = $76) plus time en route (at $50/hr = apx $50) for a total of $126 (+HST)

We can discuss options with you if the vessel is outside of our local service area.


We book our own travel and work to keep costs low, minimizing your costs.
